Dunbar Edward Wormley Tuxedo Sofa in Jack Lenor Larsen Upholstery

Collection spotlight · Birmingham Modern

Mid-century and modern design

An Edward Wormley for Dunbar Tuxedo sofa in Jack Lenor Larsen fabric, a set of eight Verner Panton chairs for Vitra, and studio pieces by Claude Conover and David Goldhagen.

Highlights

Edward Wormley led design at Dunbar for decades, and his Tuxedo sofa is one of the firm’s classics. Verner Panton’s cantilevered S chair, made by Vitra, is a landmark of 1960s design. Claude Conover’s large glazed stoneware vessels have become some of the most sought-after American studio ceramics. This one, Conan, is estimated at $6,000–12,000.

These lots are offered in Birmingham Modern: Dunbar to Diamonds (Sunday, November 15). Bidding is online at LiveAuctioneers, with pickup in Leeds, Alabama or shipping.
